4 Reasons Why Font Choice is Important.

The Power of Fonts: Part 1

Fonts are more than just pretty letters.

They have the power to convey emotions, set the tone, and influence perception.

For example, wedding invitations tend to look different than a work presentation.
They tend to place the bride and groom’s name with a cursive fonts for an elegant and whimsical feel, with the details in a serif-type font for readability.

On the other end, your work presentation most likely uses one font family, and has a bit more simplicity in overall design for clarity.

Choosing the right font for your project can make all the difference.

Here are 4 reasons why font choice is important:

  1. Readability
A well-chosen font can make your content easier to read, which is essential for engagement.
How many times have you skipped over something because you couldn’t read it within the first 1-2 seconds?

  2. Branding
Fonts can help to establish your brand identity and create a memorable impression. Fonts are HUGE for branding. Depending on your brand and what you’re trying to portray to your customer, the font can be recognizable in any use.

  3. Mood
Different fonts evoke different moods. For example, a playful font might be a good choice for a children's website, while a more formal font might be better suited for a business presentation. Jotting down the feeling you want your customer to feel can help you decide what font(s) to use.

  4. Hierarchy
Fonts can be used to create a sense of hierarchy on a page, drawing attention to important information. What do you want them to read first? Second? Third?

Oftentimes we want to pick a font because it's our favorite, or we just like how it looks. When it comes to design, your brand or what you're trying to portray to your audience, it matters much more.
