3 Quick Reasons Why is Alignment is Important

Alignment Part 2: Why is alignment important?

We already know that alignment in design feels visually pleasing and organized.

Zero chaos.

Zen vibes only.

So why else is alignment important?

Here are 3 quick reasons:

  1. Improved readability: It makes it easier for people to understand your content.

This one is a given but still needs mentioning.
If you’re elements are not organized in any shape or form, your viewer is not going to know what to look at.
How often have you found yourself looking at a chaotic menu and you don’t know what to order? Exactly. No one wants to be hangry and unable to figure out what breakfast foods you can order.

  2. Visual hierarchy: It guides the viewer's eye to the most important information.

This one is essential for the call-to-action pieces.
You have a poster or something you want your viewers to do on your website. Visual hierarchy takes them there without confusion. It’s a clear map through the maze of information.

  3. Professionalism: It makes your design look polished and put together.

    Think about resumes.
They have an unspoken sense of structure and hierarchy.
You know what to list first, where to put it, how to highlight the sections, and so on. This alignment gives your resume that ‘look-at-me’ feel you want to give off.

Even if you’re a seasoned pro, you can always be mindful of alignment.

It's a powerful tool that can make a big difference in the overall look and feel of your work.
