3 Elements to Branding

What is Branding? Part 1 & 2

Why do people stand in line for the newest iPhone?

(And yes - people still wait in line).

In today's time, many other options are just the same, if not better. (And some around the same price).

Even still, a majority of people still own an iPhone or some type of Mac product - why?

Simply put: their branding.

They give a sense of reliability, security, ease of use, customer experience, and they look nice!

(How many people still have the box their laptop came in?)

All these things encompass their brand.

From the look of the product, to how the customer feels interacting with their brand, and even the purchasing experience.

But what IS branding?

There are many factors that are taken into account when developing a brand, but let’s focus on 3.

Here are 3 key elements to branding:

  1. Visual identity

    • Logo

    • Colors

    • Fonts

    • Imagery

    • Website

    • Packaging.

    • Basically, anything visually associated with your brand!

The expression about first impressions is valid. People will see visuals/colors before they read anything.
If they are not visually attracted to your brand, or it doesn’t look profressional, they most likely will not engage.

  2. Messaging

    • Brand voice

    • Mission statement

    • Vision statement

    • Key messages

How do you sound to your customers? Are you friendly? Strong? Corporate?

  3. Values:

    • What your company stands for

    • How it operates

    • What do customers think of when they think of your business?

What is within your mission statement? What do you want to associate your brand with?

Does your brand encompass any of these elements?
